WooCommerce built to handle how you actually sell
Trade pricing, real shipping rules, stock that matches the warehouse. The jobs where a stack of extensions gets you most of the way and stops.
-
Code in your repository Custom work ships as documented plugins, not edits buried in a theme.
-
HPOS and block checkout Modern order storage and checkout, converted carefully rather than switched on and hoped for.
-
No platform tax WooCommerce takes no cut of your revenue, and that stays true at ten times the volume.

Why WooCommerce stores get expensive to change
The symptoms look different. The cause is nearly always the same.
What a WooCommerce engagement covers
Most projects use four or five of these. We scope after we have seen the store.
Custom store build
Theme and templates written for your catalogue, product types and buying flow rather than bought and bent.
Plugin stack rationalisation
Twenty extensions audited down to the ones that earn their place, with the rest replaced by code.
HPOS conversion
Order storage moved to the new tables, with every order-touching plugin and report checked first.
Block Cart and Checkout
Migration from the shortcode checkout, tested against the old flow on live traffic before it becomes the default.
ERP and stock integrations
Store API and REST work so stock, pricing and orders move both ways without anyone rekeying them.
Trade and B2B pricing
Customer groups, tiered pricing, quote requests and account-only catalogues built as first class features.
Performance and stability
Object caching, query work and a staging environment so releases stop being events.
Reporting you can act on
Product and margin reporting pulled from the order tables, not exported to a spreadsheet each Monday.
Not sure whether to rebuild or repair?
Send the URL. We will tell you honestly which one your store needs, and roughly what each would cost.
How a WooCommerce project runs
Four phases. The first one exists so that the quote is real.

Bint E Hafsa
Hafsa has rebuilt WooCommerce stores that were held together by fourteen extensions and a theme nobody dared update. Her rule is that anything specific to your business becomes a plugin in your repository, so the next developer inherits code instead of archaeology.
What custom Woo work is actually for
Figures from stores we have built or rescued.
Custom build vs another extension
What WooCommerce development costs
Fixed price per phase, quoted after the audit, because a quote before the audit is a guess.
What you can count on
The audit is fixed price and yours to keep. If it says the store is fine and only needs two fixes, that is what it will say, and you are free to have anyone do them.

Most broken WooCommerce stores were never built
They accumulated. A theme bought in a hurry, a checkout plugin to patch what the theme could not do, a second plugin to patch the first, and three years later nobody can change the delivery rules without something else breaking. The store works, roughly, and every request now costs more than it should. That is the condition we are usually called into, and the fix is architectural rather than cosmetic.
HPOS is not optional any more
High-Performance Order Storage moves orders out of the posts table into dedicated tables, and it is now the default for new installations. Stores still running legacy storage are slower in the admin, harder to query, and increasingly likely to hit extensions that assume the new schema. Converting is usually straightforward; discovering mid-migration that a custom report reads the old table is not, which is why we audit every order-touching plugin before flipping the switch.
The checkout question
WooCommerce has moved from a shortcode checkout to block-based Cart and Checkout. The block version is faster and easier to extend through documented APIs, but it does not silently inherit every hook your old checkout relied on. Deciding when to move is a commercial judgement about conversion risk, not a technical preference, so we test the new flow against the old one on real traffic before committing.
You own the code
WooCommerce runs on your hosting, stores orders in your database, and charges you nothing per transaction. That is the whole reason to pick it over a hosted platform, and it is undermined the moment a build depends on twenty licensed extensions you cannot read. We write custom functionality as plugins in your repository, documented, so a different developer can pick it up without ringing us first.
Where custom work actually pays
Not on the product page. It pays on the parts that are specific to how you sell: trade pricing tiers, quote requests on high-value items, shipping rules that reflect real pallet costs, an ERP that needs stock both ways. Those are the jobs that generic extensions do at seventy percent, and the missing thirty percent is where staff time goes every week.
A focused piece of work such as a trade pricing build or an ERP integration is usually a few thousand. A full custom store with integrations is a larger project quoted per phase. We price after the audit, and the audit price is fixed and known up front.
High-Performance Order Storage is the newer way WooCommerce stores orders, and it is the default for new installs. If your store predates it you are on the slower legacy schema. Converting is usually simple, but any plugin or report reading the old tables has to be checked first.
Yes, and it is a common request once transaction fees start to bite. The work is products, customers, order history and a redirect map, plus rebuilding anything that relied on platform-specific apps.
Buy the extension when your requirement matches what it does. Build custom when you are paying for an extension and then paying someone to work around it, which is the point most stores reach without noticing.
Not if it is built against documented hooks and the Store API rather than by editing core templates. We test against release candidates, which is why our custom code survives updates that break bought extensions.
No, and we would rather you were not locked to us for it. We will recommend hosting that suits your order volume and set it up, but the account stays in your name.
